• Home School Karate Program (HSKP)

The HSKP has been offered to the home school community since September 2008. This traditional Okinawa karate program is offered to both the children and parent/guardian members active in home schooling. The program commences in September of each year with on-going registration accepted throughout the year.

  • The Program

This program is designed to introduce your child to karate. Utilizing the more traditional philosophy of martial arts training, our karate system is viewed as a part of one’s life. Learning is gained through interactive games, training in basic karate techniques, kata (forms) and the passing of history through oral tradition. The purpose of this class is to use karate practice as a vehicle to build physical, mental and social skills. Physically, your child will work to develop co-ordination, strength, balance and both large and small motor skills. Mentally, your child will work towards improving concentration. Socially children will learn responsibility for their actions, to work with partners, take instruction and be introduced to the precepts of the art of traditional Okinawa Meibukan Gojyu-ryu Karate-do. Some of these precepts are honour, loyalty, courage, and commitment. Besides physical and mental growth, we work on developing character and leadership skills, through personal challenge.
